About Seichi

An independent guide to the real places behind anime, with sources for every guide.

Seichi is an independent fan guide to seichi junrei, anime pilgrimage: the real streets, shrines, stations and coastlines that anime borrowed, and how to visit them well. Right now we cover 28 spots across Japan.

How we research

Every spot guide is built from official sources where they exist (city and prefectural tourism offices, railway operators, shrines, schools and the anime's own production teams), plus reputable news and reference works. Each guide lists its sources at the bottom and shows the date we last checked its facts.

We keep what's documented apart from what's fan legend. If a place is only a lookalike, we say so. If we couldn't confirm something, we tell you that too.

What we don't do

  • We don't use anime screenshots or official art. The illustrations on this site are original.
  • We don't publish the locations of private homes, and we don't send people onto school grounds.
  • We aren't affiliated with any studio, publisher, rail company or tourism board.

Corrections

Opening hours, events and transport change all the time. If you spot something out of date, let us know at admin@seichi.jp.net and we'll fix it and update the "last checked" date on the guide.
